What we Grow
From bedding plants to patio pots and hanging baskets, we grow a variety of items at Hurst Greenery. Our primary business is to provide wholesale items to retailers, landscapers, municipalities, fundraising coordinators and private clients.
Each spring we open a couple of or our greenhouses to local customers looking for a few special items.
The best part is, everything we do has a hands-on approach, so you can enjoy our products knowing that we've provided attention to the details that matter.
Bedding Plants
We raise our bedding plants (annuals) in a variety of sizes to accommodate the needs of our customers. From flats of cell packs (606 and 1801) to individual pots (4", 1 gallon and 2 gallon) we have the flexibility to grow for any project.
Plant material is sourced from national suppliers including Proven Winner, Wave, Dummen Confetti Garden and other established brands.
Vegetables/Herbs
Our assortment of vegetables provides a suitable mix of varieties in a variety of container sizes for our retailers. Though some plants arrive from suppliers as rooted plugs, we still seed a great deal of vegetables in house.
Weekly throughout the season, we plant a new crop of our most common items (tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and other vine crops). Early season crops include cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts and eggplant. Later in the season, our variety of herbs will satisfy the needs of your very own herb garden.
Hanging Baskets
Wow, the variety offered in our hanging baskets will bring a pop or color to your front porch or patio. Retailers are delivered a brand new selection of items each week allowing for a fresh retail look.
Our baskets include matching items such as geraniums, vinca, sunpatiens, ferns and more. The majority of our baskets, however, are combinations of flowering plants, a customer favorite.
Patio Pots/Containers
From year to year, people enjoy our custom created patio pot combinations. Each year our selection includes a number or reliable favorites and a batch of new mixes.
These items are also popular with our retail customers, retailers and fundraising program coordinators. Generally available in a standard 12"-13" patio pot, a premium 13"-14" patio pot or a 1/2 bushel treated basket.
Perennials
Though mostly a pre-ordered item for our retail, fundraising and landscaping customers, we have a limited inventory of perennials available each year.
Once established, these plants are great for a year-to-year, low-maintenance burst of color and/or foliage as part of your home or business landscape.
Hardy Hibiscus
These mid to late summer show stoppers are generally available in mid to late July as we ship them to retailers from southern Minnesota to Missouri and Illinois to Nebraska. These are a great addition to any garden.
Premium Pre-Order Items
As needed, we grow pre-ordered premium or custom items. These may include larger patio pots, sphagnum moss hanging baskets or special orders in gallon pots or larger.
Contact us about your ideas and we will do our best to turn your vision into reality. Most custom orders or premium items must be ordered by December or January for spring availability.
